This conversion is the work of David Fryer and Joel Marcantel. I have hosted it on my site to preserve it for the benefit of gamers everywhere.As I am not a BESM expert, I will not be creating content for these pages. However, if other BESM Magi-Nation fans email me new material, I will add it to these pages as appropriate.

Here are some of the creatures common to the Moonlands. It is likely that the characters may encounter some or all of these characters during the course of their adventures. Of course, adventurers may also find themselves allied with some of these creatures, which could lead to interesting complications.

Agrilla

The Agrilla looks like a cross between the worst traits of a wolf and a wolverine, grown to the size of a tiger. It is covered in gray and periwinkle fur which allows it to blend in with the rocks and mountains of the Kybar's Teeth region. It is extremely territorial and will attack anything that disturbs it.

Black Agovo

The Black Agovo is one of the twisted and distorted beasts which Core has given birth to. It is snake-like with two massive bat-like wings. Its black and purple coloring makes it a perfect nocturnal predator.

Borgor

Borgors are a race distantly related to Ogres. They have green skin and long claws on both their hands and feet. They also have a massive set of curving horns growing from their forehead. They have very small eyes which mean that they cannot see very well and because of this they tend to view anything they see as a threat.

Chaos Jile

Chaos Jiles are hunting cats that are common in Core. They have been distorted by the evil magics of the place and have a large reptilian fin which runs the length of their back. They are pack hunters and many packs have been coerced into serving the various warlords of the region.

Crag Quor

Crag Quor are mystic beings which are born out of the living rock. They have four legs and four arms which allows them to move fast and fight hard. No one knows where the Crag Quor came from but they seem to have dedicated their lives to destroying the evil of Core.

Cragnoc

Cragnocs are believed to be another elemental being like the Crag Quor. They are humanoid, but have six massive arms which make them dervishes in combat, living whirlwinds of destruction. Cragnocs are champions of goodness and violently opposed to anything displaying the taint of the core.

Ergar

Ergars are large lizards native to Cald. They have a yellow hide with rock-like and crystal-like scales. An ergar is capable of breathing a stream of fire which is used to chase away its enemies and roast its prey.

Forest Jile

The Forest Jile is a panther-like cat from the forests of Naroom. It is covered in green and brown fur which allows it to blend with the foliage of its forest home. It is the undisputed king of the forests and can always be counted on to show up when the forest is in danger.

Gia Pet

The Gia Pet is a monster from the Core. The eyes of its skull-like face glow with an evil light and its purple flesh is covered in a loose wrapping of bandages. The only exposed portions of its body are its head, hands, and feet.

Grax

The Grax is a monstrous beetle which Core magik has warped into an unspeakable evil. The first set of the beetle's legs have been mutated into arms and are equipped with tentacles which drain the very life force from an opponent. They are often employed as guards by Core sorcerers and warlords.

Ithapher

The Ithapher is a unique creature which makes its home on the plains of Cald. It has a long snake-like body with two powerful legs which carry it across the plains. Its long thin body allows it to catch small rodents that are burrowed underground and it can also wrap its body around larger prey to crush it and smother it.

J'Lith

The J'Lith is a large gray furred lion with a periwinkle mane. It is able to fly with butterfly-like wings, but this beast is no pushover. They are the guardians of magic in Arderial, and often accompany Arderial Wing Guards on missions beyond the land's borders.

Jore

Jores are underground dwelling cousins of the rhinoceros. A jore's horn glows with a pale green light which allows the creature to see where it is going. However the Jore's vision is so poor that this is not often an advantage and they constantly walk into walls they did not see coming.

Oranragan

The Oranragan is a large primate which lives in the jungles of Paradwyn and in the high valleys of Kybar's Teeth. It is covered in navy and maroon colored fur which allows it to blend with the riotous colors of Paradwyn. Oranragans are extremely territorial and will attack intruders at the slightest provocation.

Orok

Oroks are a massive land animal the size of an ox, but more akin to a wild boar. They are covered in shaggy purple fur and have jutting tusks and a pair of horns which curl up over its head. It has exceptional hearing, but very poor eyesight. Orok are not very bright and have been known to forget about an opponent if they happen to run past it.

Shryque

Shryques are the result of a Core Magi's attempt at crossing an eagle with a bat. The result was a horrific, but effective, nocturnal predator. They are bird-like, with black and purple coloring. It is often used as spies by Core forces.

Szalak

Szalaks are giant spiders which are found throughout the Core. They view all creatures smaller then they are as prey, and any larger then they are as a threat. They tend to be very anti-social and attack anything which wanders to close to their nest.

Tragan

Tragans are horned and beaked wolf-like beasts. They are covered with thick gray fur and have the ability to run very quickly. Unlike many other Core creatures they are social beasts and are often found as companions of adventurers and hunters.

Trask

The Trask is a large water dwelling reptile which resembles a compact, heavily armored crocodile. It has large yellow eyes which allow it to see as well underwater as it does on land. It is equipped with a massive crushing jaw which does a serious amount of damage.

Warlum

Warlums are large birds which resemble flamingos. They are a dark purple in color and have large claws on each foot. However they are most well known for their ability to teleport across vast distances. This ability makes them sought after by magi and warlords across the Moonlands.

Wasperine

Wasperines are very similar to wolverines except that they have a yellow and black striped fur and a sharp spike at the tip of their tail. They can run extremely fast and strike without warning. They are fairly ill tempered but have been know to befriend travelers and adventurers on occasion.

Yollums are large flying lizards which have a body very much like a serpent. Their body is covered with rock-like scales and they have two fin-like structures which they use to steer while flying. They also have several membranous flaps of skin on their body which create the illusion that the creature is on fire.
