Even though the dwarves have probably been in the Throndil mountains since the world began, they do have many tales and legends which always took place long ago. The first great king of Tondelheim was named Dorum, that much is certain. When he ruled is always said to be before everything else happened, so there is no accurate idea as to when he lived. The expulsion of the Duergar also figures in many tales, and Tondelheim dwarves are always listening for word of the gray servants of Laduguer.
Tondelheim is one of the few places on the northern continent which never fell to the armies of Ossavia. Ossav himself never battled the dwarven host, and the dwarves still joke that Ossav was afraid to have his skill in the axe matched against dwarvish skill in the same. They also tell of the rising of the Malachi, and the decline of the same, all with the casual dwarvish indifference. They have even told of a time before Ossav, when the continent was composed of five great kingdoms which eventually went to war with each other, reducing humankind to barbarism.
With the arrival of Terionis the Liberator in Lhartor, the dwarves began to interact with the outside world again. Dwarvish armies were instrumental in breaking humanoid domination in several areas. Their assistance freed Rhynn and Bariston from the goblinoid tribes.
Today, dwarves are the most common demihuman race in Melarna. Kelevantia and Tondelheim are the strongest of allies, and each King and Queen have thrones in the other's hall. Dwarves work with human craftsmen, and human mages aid the dwarven folk with their magic. A thriving trade has developed between the nations, and Tondelheim also pays particular care to Bariston.
