Countries

Devala : (Human/Dwarf) A country based mainly on trade. Merchants make the economy, therefore run the country. It is ruled by what is known as a Merchant King. This country is also known for it's intelligence service.

Shannolti: (Human) The largest in size and numbers of people. It is an arrogant country. Shannolti isn't "Evil" per se, but it is very corrupt. It is the typical fuedal style government, that is in decay due to greed and neglect of the ruling class. In fact, there are currently rumors of a civil war pending...

Kapaktaki: (Exprey) Their territory is claimed by the Shannolti, but is bitterly contested.

Aragdan: (Dwarf/Shantair) A governing body of the two races that interacts with other races as a whole. It has no power over internal matters, but the Shantair and Dwarves use this to present a united front to the rest of Kantor.

Sytheya: (Elf) The main country of the elves on this continent. It is mostly High elves, and they are in close contant with the Sea Elves of Alyn.

Rym: (Human/Dwarf) The northernmost country. The human population is mainly sea farers. They are reknown for raiding cities along the coast. The country has a very loose leadership with most laws being from the local clans. Every five years, the clans meet for a Crowning competition that lasts for 2 weeks. The winner of this competition has its Clans leader crowned king. The dwarves play a fairly active secondary role. They provide a steady influence among a chaotic race.

Gimaehen: (Human) The country that dominates the western portion of the continent. A very agressive country that is in a constant state of war (usually with Himelwen). The mountains to their east have kept them from attacking eastward for the most part. This country has been ruled by a line of violent and hateful kings. There are dwarves in the mountains of this area, but have rarely been seen.

Simerii: (Human) A warrior race. They live and usually die fighting. This is their whole life. They currently serve as a merc group for Shannolti. From the time a child is born, they are trained to fight.

Alyn: (Elf) A large island and chain of islands west of the main land. It is made up of mostly Sea elves, and Grey elves. The sea elves live most of their lives on the seas, while the Grey elve tend to the islands. It makes for an excellant relationship. Both are in constant contact with the Aquatic elves.

Himelwen: (Human) A very magical nomadic race that dwells in the badlands. They are reknown for their unique bonding with different types of animals. They are: Hippogriffs, eagles, and horses. It is rumored that the magicians play with magically manipulating the crossbreeding of animals and even humans. This group of people are very reclusive, and very hostile towards violations of their border. They have never crossed their own borders with a military force though.

Jezlyn: (Half-Elf) This is a newly formed country that consists of mostly half-elves. This country was established as a haven for half-elves that have been run out of the elven and human communities. This country is on a island between the main land and Alyn. It is completely surrounded by reefs, that make it extremely hard to reach by water. The country is ruled by a king, selected by a council of elders. It has a very diverse culture, and they are extremely tolerant of other races.

The culture level is more medieval than anything. Different countries are in different states of development. Shannolti is falling behind quickly, Devala is more renaissance, etc.

Until recently, trade between countries has been limited. In the last 100 years though, Devala has pushed the trade thoughout the northern continent. Commerce is a new and expanding idea that not all countries have welcomed.
