Redowas is The newest kingdom of Sogel, these lands were awarded to the newly elevated Duke Yathesker. Unfortunately, much of the lands claimed by Yathesker are home to Omkedrin tribes; the resulting conflicts have been sporadic but fierce. Unscrupulous bandits have also moved into the area to take advantage of the instability.
The most civilized duchy of the kingdom, Gold River is located at the western edge of the kingdom. It gets its name from the river flowing thru the center of the duchy, which flows from the mountains separating Redowas from XXX. A gold rush YYY years ago let to the settlement of this area, and the inhabitants have stayed ever since.
Carlav Point is a duchy that was created by a prominent military officer. Duke Tolca Carlav commanded a keep at Carlav Point, where he repulsed an attack by Omkedrin tribesmen. For his unwavering courage and dedication, the king granted him rulership of the newly formed duchy.
Carlav Point is on the frontier of the kingdom, and serves as a bastion against attacks from Omkedrin and Vei. It is still primarily a military settlement, and the few settlers in the duchy never stray far from the fortresses.
The rulership of Branthis is currently being contested. The former duke was killed, and there are currently at least two primary claimants who seek the ducal throne. Blar Carnak is a brazen rogue who has developed a justified reputation for his thieving exploits. Falfor Torsaron is a military-minded mage who defected from the king's army, and is trying to either blackmail his way into the throne, or redeem himself in the eyes of the king. No one seems to have the power to hold this territory together, so the king is letting the two fight for control of the duchy.
Both Carnak and Torsaron have some of the keys to the ducal Cainam, but neither holds a complete set. Both desperately are searching for clues to the other pieces.
This duchy is the land of a small tribe of Omkedrin. Rather than fight the power of the Sogel empire, Chief XXX opted to offer fealty in return for the secret of Cainam. The king saw this as an excellent opportunity, and Boulder Canyon was recognized as a duchy of Redowas.
Since then, the chief has cannily played the other Omkedrin tribes against the rest of the kingdom. He permits Omkedrin raiding parties to travel thru his lands (for a small contribution). He also allows the Sogel military to travel thru his lands, particularly when Vei are involved.
The XXX river flows through the canyon, but navigation is impossible for any ships larger than a small canoe because of the frequent rapids along the river.
