Priltova is a major sea power of the world. Though not as powerful as the Kelevantian navy, the Priltovan marine forces are still considered a strong force - when they are united. Since each duke maintains their own ships, the navy of Priltova suffers because it does not coordinate actions well.

Unfortunately, several of the dukes actively encourage another form of economy - piracy. A few of the dukes actually captain their own privateering vessels. Other, more law-abiding nobles try to discourage this practice, leading to quite a few naval skirmishes.

Geography

The location of Priltova along the coast gives it plentiful locations for ports. About half of the land of the kingdom is on the mainland, while the rest is distributed among a number of islands and island chains. The climate is tropical, since Priltova straddles the equator. The eastern extent of Priltova is covered in the thick JJJ Jungle.

The people of Priltova harvest the sea for food. They also have cultivated tropical fruits and spices, which are the major exports of the kingdom. Many of the local lords operate plantations for growing the fruits. It isn't uncommon for criminals to be placed in indentured servitude for the duration of their sentence.

History

Less unified than Carregor, Priltova had primarily raided its northern neighbor for food and goods. The pirate captains were unprepared to handle the XXX once Carregor unified. So for the next several decades, Priltovan pirate captains relied upon guile to avoid the Carregor forces.

The JJJ jungle prevented Carregor from expanding southward into Priltova. An alliance with the Kahukas kept even expeditionary forces from interfering too much, though several fierce battles did happen in the jungle.

By the time Sarpace and Carregor announced the alliance to form Sogel, Priltova had become more centralized. The pirate forces had started to coordinate their efforts, becoming a real navy. The admiral served as the ruler and arbiter for the kingdom, and he met with Carregor representatives. Finally, in a treaty amended to the Carregor-Sarpace union treaty, Priltova offered fealty to the emperor in return for the secret of Cainam and the rights to the Carbian island chain (which Priltova had largely occupied anyway).

Peoples

Regions

Duchy of Imdaria, governed by Admiral XXX

Ships from Imdaria frequently sail to Pasardia or Catoln, as the admiral has good relations with these duchies.

Duchy of Carbia, governed by Duke Brolidser

The Carbian island chain is the northernmost island chain controlled by Priltova. It is composed of a number of islands of varying sizes, many of which are large enough to have thriving communities. The largest island, Aldora, is in the middle of the Carbian chain. It is the capital of the duchy and home to Duke Brolidser, who commands the Sogel navy.

The islands nearby are settled by many people seeking wealth and trade. Unfortunately, they also frequently fall prey to pirates who sail the Carbian Sea. Fort Sabre, on Sabre Island, is a nearby watch post, and the lights from the lighthouse there can be seen in the Duke's castle.

Duchy of Kahuka, governed by

Kahuka is the easternmost duchy of Priltova. It is actually the western reaches of the JJJ jungle, and borders Ardevora. The duchy is primarily inhabited by the savage Kahuka tribe. The ruler of the duchy is the chief of the Kahuka tribe, and the inhabitants are largely xenophobic. With the increased interest in the resources of the land, Kahuka is seeing more foreigners try to visit. The chief's two sons are divided on what course their people should follow, and the future of the Kahukas will depend on the resolution.

Kahuka has a great deal of fertile land. The jungles thrive with tropical fruit, and the natives are proficient in hunting as well. Occasionally, the natives will trade with sailing vessels for outside goods. But they will just as often attack any landing party in overwhelming numbers, and feed survivors to their alligators.

A few kahukas dwell on volcanic tropical islands just off-shore (but still within the duchy). These islanders are more open to outsiders, and are willing to let outsiders visit. They are fishermen, and navigate the shores in small catamarans. They are more familiar with the ways of other lands, though they frequently feign ignorance to get an advantage in negotiations.

Within the mainland is an idyllic lake, which the Kahukas guard fiercely. In the center of the lake is an island, which is the home of the chief. Along the northern edge of the lake is a beautiful hidden cove. This sacred cove is the center of the Kahukas' totemic religion. This cove is strictly forbidden to outsiders, and the natives will appease their gods with the sacrifice of any trespassers.

Brolidser of Carbia is trying to make an alliance with the natives, with little success. Rundaber has recently lost a number of men to them as well, but continues to send small groups into the jungle. Rundaber's reasons are unknown.

Duchy of DDD, governed by Duke Rundaber

Rundaber is the most infamous of the pirate-dukes. He centers his duchy on Jamic Rock Island in the XXX chain, and sponsors a number of other pirate captains. Rundaber has never actually been caught engaging in piracy. His ship, the Barracuda, is one of the fastest on the seas. However, the other ships - particularly the ships of Brolidser - keep a close eye on him.

Other pirates tacitly sponsored by Rundaber include Captain Jayhawk of the Renegade, Captain Ironhook of the Sea Vulture, and a mysterious pirate known only as The Skull, who captains the Scarlet Runner, a ship crewed by the undead.
