Malik is the Center of power for the Duchy of Cuthia. It was
founded by and named for the Cuthian chief who agreed to serve Ossav in
exchange for land and security. It lies on the south shores of Lake LLLLL,
at the mouth of the RRRR river.
The mines near Malik provide a healthy supply of copper, tin, and iron;
other metals are also mined. The gnomes nearby also produce gemstones,
but these are generally not exported.

Rulership
Duke Tarnuk of Cuthia rules strongly, and is crafty enough to find allies
in several places where most rulers would hesitate. He is good friends
with all three orc tribes which dwell within Cuthia (Vile Rune, Dripping
Eye, Broken Bone)

of Kelevantia. A few tribes of goblins have recently immigrated.

The Gilt Hilt: a tavern directly outside the Duke's palace. Recently
rebuilt after a fire, this tavern is frequented by several members of the
Blades of Fear. The Guild meeting hall is accessed through a tunnel from
the tavern, and is actually inside the thick wall of the Ducal Palace

Thieves' Guilds
The Blades of Fear: a well organized thieves guild that operates
in Malik. Their distinctive tattoo is a skull above four wavy-bladed daggers,
point down. Organized into four relatively distinct "bureaus" - fencing
and smuggling, assassination, espionage, and burglary. The guild is run
by a guildmaster usually selected from one of the four bureaus, although
each bureau is fairly independent. The guild also has ties to the Duke,
although this is not widely known.
