This changed in 1013, when Ossav personally led the naval assault on the isles. Few records remain from before the invasion, yet sea-elf scholars tell of unbelievably large numbers of vessels in the fight for the isles. Yet the navies could not hold off Ossav himself, and the Lintham isles fell.
No Lintham vessel was captured, as the ships were destroyed by their own crews rather than fall into Ossav's hands. The ports of the Isles were all burnt to the ground by the Lintham natives to hinder the invasion of the isles themselves. All records dealing with the sea-faring ability of Lintham was destroyed. The ancient Lintham vessels are said to be more advanced than even the Kelevantian vessels of today; many undersea adventurers have searched the sea-bottom for clues about the ancient vessels.
Lintham was quickly pacified and rebuilt, and an Ossavian navy was permanently stationed in the isles. Few refugees escaped from the isles to Eltannia. Lintham, now fortified, withstood several attempted invasions from Eltannia, who believed that they might fall next. By 1606, when Ossav pushed into Eltannia, the isles had been rebuilt, and were instrumental in the invasion.
The Lintham Isles, like most of the other non-mainland regions conquered by Ossav, immediately declared independence upon Ossav's death. The Military Governess of the isles was supported by the commander of the navy of Lintham, and they successfully maintained independence (they were later married).
During the recent Kelevantia-Ossavia war, some of the various isles in the chain allied with both kingdoms. Eventually, enough Isles sided with Kelevantia, allowing a Kelevantian fleet to harbor in preparation for the invasion. The naval strike from an unexpected direction played a significant role in the invasion of Skavont.
Presently, the Lintham Isles are considering a formal alliance with Kelevantia. The expansionistic Sogel Empire on Ahvosia has been strengthening its northern fleets, and this has givben Lintham reason to consider new alliances.
